Top 5 Spring Fashion Trends
![]()
Luscious Friends:
I'm so thrilled with the fun trends served up for us to enjoy this spring! Here's a video to show you what I'm talking about. ;)
5 Spring Fashion Trends 1) feminine chic. I was there, am there and will always be there. Fem is never out of style. Women in feminine energy facilitate men in masculine energy and everyone benefits! Women feel empowered through the fullest expression of sensuality, shape and color. Flaunt your hips and curves this season! 2) Colors and color blocking. Slam those colors up together!! Just make sure they are similar in strength. Just like male and female energy, colors compliment one another and bring out the strength in each other. 3) Retro. Enjoy. Search through Mom's closet. Find a shape that works with your body style. 4) Prints. Tribal, hippy. Love it! Bring this to work in your jewelry. Try to wear prints that you feel a connection to. For example, I connect with Celtic scrolly prints, not African prints. Make it yours. 5) Leather. Leather shorts, blazers and pants in more flowy cuts. If you're on a budget, this would be my trend to skip. |

New Healthy Manicures — Shellac & Gelish Review
I've finally found a product I love for my nails to keep them gorgeous for 2 weeks or more. I looked up reviews for an hour and thought you'd like to reap the rewards of that time and knowledge JUST for being a part of my world!!
Please comment on your experience with these products and enjoy!
Who you use as your nail tech makes a HUGE difference. You can apply regular polish until your next visit, just know that if you use Acetone remover, you will remove your shellac/gel base.

See Yourself through the "Glory" Filter!
I recently saw Diane Sawyer on her show while I was at the gym, gloriously haloed by her filtered lens. Since all the TVs were side to side, her image was in stark contrast to the harshly realistic HD cameras used on the other news anchors. (I'm pretty sure Barbara Walters was the first to use the wrinkle-free filter.) I almost felt as if I was tuning into a more beautiful, heavenly world where angels sang as she spoke.
I didn't mind one bit. I didn't mind being spared a wrinkle or two. She looked gorgeous and god-like with perfect makeup, hair and clothing after years of experience figuring out what works best for her. She looked feminine and smart.
Diane is the perfect icon of the mature woman. I was still able to see her essence through her "glory" filter.
My point is: Why not see ourselves through a "Glory" filter? What would it be like to look through a lens that makes us look and feel good about ourselves rather than seeing ourselves through a harsh filter that magnifies our every "flaw"?
Would you be willing to see yourself in the best light?
Literally, would you be willing to have a mirror and lighting that makes you look and feel good rather than heavy, wrinkled, bumpy & bruised?
So what if your mirror makes you look 10% thinner & taller? I'd be curious to see if you lost weight after seeing yourself in this mirror for awhile. One of my perfect clients has a mirror like this and I think it's a good experiment. Try feeling better about you for a little while every day, using any tool in the book! Use peach lighting that goes vertically down the wall, so you are not lit from above but evenly illuminated.
Stand up a little taller. Suck in your stomach. (You might find yourself wanting to do an extra plank or two!) Feeling better creates being better. Being better creates doing better...it steers us into the current in the river where we are headed in the right direction.
Let's stop with the "Be Hard on Ourselves and Others" crap. It doesn't work. It doesn't change a thing except making it worse. Create what you want from a place of imagining yourself as you would love to be! Use your imagination as much as you can every single day. Try it out and report your results right here!

Five Elements of a Great Coat
There is so much to say about a great coat that I'm going to narrow it down and be brief, since I've never had a busier season and I'm guessing you might be busy, too!
5 Elements of a Great Coat
1) A coat that does not attract lint or pet/people hair and is easy to clean.
Just like your hair, makeup, bag & shoes, your coat needs to look impeccable. Impeccability sends a very strong statement that you care enough to get the details right. If you've got little kids, animals or are a slob, make sure you get something easy to clean or that has a slick outer layer. Dark colors show hair the worst!

If you've got little kids, animals or are a slob, make sure you get something easy to clean or that has a slick outer layer. Dark colors show hair the worst!
If you're covered in fur anyway (you know who you are), consider a vintage fur coat from our local Unhinged in Sugar House. (I'm not a fan of killing animals unless it's necessary.) You may occasionally see me in vintage fur or fake fur. Great looking fake fur is everywhere! It's soft, lightweight and warm.
Check your coat in sunlight every week! Take a damp washcloth and see if you can lightly wash stains or spots out. If not, act fast to clean before stains set and do not subject to dryer heat until you get spots out. Take special care to look at the ends of your sleeves.
2) A coat that is warm.
If you're going to do down, make sure the lines go up and down instead of across. I don't like seeing the Michelin Man everywhere I go.

3) A coat that has great lines & a great style.
My personal favorite is a knee length coat. It's elegant for men and women, keeps your butt & lower back warm, and is eternally stylish over dresses and slacks. Make sure it fits but it's not too big.

Have a second coat (can be shorter length) that's daily for trips to Costco. It's a little easier to get in and out of your car and keeps your longer, dressy coat clean for nicer occasions. I see most people err by wearing their daily short coat when they should have a dressier coat for business.
4) A coat that is comfortable & easy to move in!
If you've ever tried on vintage wool coats, it's shocking how heavy they are! Thank God for microfibers (easier to clean & they don't attract moths.) Save purchasing wool for your sweaters with a silk next to your body to save your sweaters from washing every time you wear them.

I have safety concerns around coats. You need to make certain that you can drive easily!! Try on a coat and pretend you are driving with your arms around your steering wheel. See if you can touch your elbows with a little give in your coat. Stretch is a wonderful thing. I've been known to have a panic attack in a too-tight coat!
5) A coat needs to have some color or ShaZZam! quality.
Nothing is more boring than the sea of black coats at Sundance. Not only are they very dangerous because they are invisible at night, they are BOORRINGGG and steal the color from your face. If you have one, and I know you do, if you don't love it, donate it! If you love it, get the best colorful scarves that look great next to your face and bright gloves (which you can see when they fall out of your car).

You deserve a Rock Star coat! If you let me help you pick it out I can help you save lots of money & time by teaching you how to make the best investment for your body shape and lifestyle. A good coat is a best friend in winter and when taken care of properly, can last a very long time.
Happy Winter, my friends!!

How to have WHAM BAM Thank You MA'AM Breakthrough Results!
Hey Lovies!
I've had some WHAM-BAM-THANK YOU MA'AM big wins lately. I want to share the process I've taken in hopes that it will inspire and guide you to more success and breakthroughs.
I've had some WHAM-BAM-THANK YOU MA'AM big wins lately. I want to share the process I've taken in hopes that it will inspire and guide you to more success and breakthroughs.
1) Say YES to "Woo-Woo": Emotional/Spiritual/Mental/ Physical Healing techniques
I demand a solution for what's not working in my life. I ask, seek and knock on every door for solutions for myself and my clients. Because of my relentless desire to learn and grow and heal, I continue to find better, faster and more effective tools for leaving the past behind and clearing old energies to make way for new vision. I use these tools religiously/daily and that is a huge reason I was prepared for my latest "upgrade!" (Did you read that last week?) I'm using these tools now in my coaching/healing sessions, if you want to get "in" on that!
2) Follow your Inspired "Leadings" or "Hunches": Say yes to the yeses and no to your no's! ( I teach techniques to help you learn how to do that, too!)
Within the last two months I followed inspiration to a few meetings where I met five people who circled around me in the same week to give me the support I need to launch my new, bigger, bolder brand of Auretha.com. I had to say NO to some things that were politically correct to say Yes to, at the risk of hurting feelings and business relationships. I had to honor a deep NO within myself. When I made these choices, other offers opened up IMMEDIATELY that I felt inspired to take. Sometimes it takes OVARIES/COHONES to do the thing that is right for you to do!
3) I knew what was holding me back was that I did not have the right support team in place.
I'm a giver. I've given more hours of my time and expertise than I can count, just like you have, because giving feels good.
Let me tell you what also feels good...receiving! Somehow all the stars were aligned from the above actions, so the Universe was able to deliver my support team! Ted is a Wordpress Wonder & SEO stealth secret operative. Elisabeth is a VA (virtual assistant) who loves to play with words, develop products and has a sky-high perspective. She has the best overview of my business because it's her genius and because she cares. You cannot buy that kind of support. Also in the bunch are a few whiz kids on creating beautiful websites, facebook and filing. Seriously. It takes a village to create what I'm up to. I literally want to change the world. This team gives me permission to dream higher and further and gives relief to the endless supply of mind-numbing questions an entrepreneur faces.
Because of this team, I will now be able to develop products and solutions for people all over the world, rather than having to meet one-on-one with me. That's global, honey. I was made to play globally!!

So I asked and kept on asking. I supported others (and still do). I followed inspiration. I said NO. I said YES! I received! (BIG relief!) Now I have come into meeting some of the most amazing women I've ever met that are insistent on becoming my clients in order to play as big as they can in their own lives. I can play full out with all my giftings because they "get it." (They get that intuitive healing is as important as having a Rock Star wardrobe to meet your dreams!)
The icing on the cake on top of the icing on the cake? I've lost about 8 lbs and am fitting into a whole new wardrobe of fun clothes. I'm preparing (inside and outside myself) for TV and to be seen on the world stage. I don't know WHEN or HOW but I know the WHAT: Helping people feel and look better in the bodies they have right now.
There's an upgrade that I've been preparing for, and it's here. I am doing the process that I help my clients achieve. It feels great!
ONward & Higher to you, my friends!

Upgrades: Tips for making life & style easier & better~Chime in!!
Everything can usually be better, easier or faster. Every season I ask myself, "Is there something I can wear that will be easier, more comfortable, look better, work better and be more 'my style?' " Usually I find something better than what I know existed before! You want to think, “If I had an hour to pack and get to the airport, what would I throw in my bag?”
High maintenance or uncomfortable items do not make the cut.
This same principle can be true for your social network feed, your cell phone apps, your moisturizer, your car, a workout, a meal, a recipe or a roommate! I love when Gay Hendricks discusses his concept of an “Upper Limit” because I find most people settle for what works and then stop looking for something better. (That’s why so many of my clients start with a wardrobe of clothes that are 10-15 years old. At some point, they stopped in their tracks. They stopped adapting, adjusting and growing!)
Another question: How can this be easier? I find the ego sometimes trips over this one. Do we need it to be hard? Scary? Do we need to be uncomfortable? Example: If you are a girl with lots & lots of beautiful hippage, do you really need to wear jeans? (Skirts and dresses are LIFE changing!!) If you have teensie boobies, do you really need a bra? (Maybe pasties will work better in some situations). If you’re a guy, do you need to keep the long, stringy hair? Or the buzz cut? Did you stop growing or expressing yourself a year ago? (5 years ago?) I loved seeing a guy friend with a Mohawk. It fit him perfectly at that moment in his life. It was refreshing and truthful.
I have a passion in helping people find better solutions! Here’s a great one. www.rareearthtones.org has ringtones of endangered animals. An elephant calling from Brett’s pocket is pretty funny, but opens a conscious conversation about his mission to save the animals of this planet.
I’d love for you to comment & share on my blog what are the best UPGRADES you have found?
What makes your life easier? Better?
Another great tip from (Skin) Dr. Murad: he snacks on organic goji berries & pine nuts. The guy looks radiant! It really is all about nutrition & attitude.
More power to you, people. Let’s evolve.

Frida Kahlo: Life & Style Lessons from a Diva
I viewed the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Salt Lake public library this last week. I've seen the movie & applaud Salma Hayek for her performance. The movie is totally hot, sad and inspiring. (Sometime I’ll share with you how this movie inspired a new vision for my body).
I love Frida. I don't love her work. It's sad, grotesque and painful to view. In many of the photographs I could clearly see that she was in pain or very ill. Her perseverance of living in a badly traumatized body is a testament to her greatness in itself.
At the exhibit, which was small but well done, I saw new photographs of Frida I hadn't seen before. I saw how small and how large she really was. Frida was her own rock star, trendsetter, inspiration and her own brand. Her influence continues to grow long after her life.
Compared to Diego Rivera, she was extremely petite. Her mother commented that her marriage to Diego was the marriage of a “dove and an elephant." Although petite, Frida was massive in her creativity and voice. (If you don’t know her story, please take a glimpse of her life by viewing the film. Powerful women of the early 20th century are rare and worthy of study).
Frida brought her own style into everything she did: her home, art, expression and fashion revealed a completely unique and influential style.
The exhibit mentioned that every time Frida dressed it was a ceremony to behold. I couldn’t get over that.
I’ve had the experience many times of a "sacred" creative expression of pulling together an outfit in a completely original way. It happens when I am alone and allow myself to play with my creative tools of image. It is, as Seth Godin puts it, my Super Power. I create art on people and myself. The experience is magic, fulfilling and completely personal. It doesn’t matter whether I share this act of creation right then or later, but it is an experience of personal power.
Frida wove flowers into her hair in braids like a crown across her head. The exhibit said she was "a woman of singular beauty.” I am refreshed by the beauty of many women like her (Sarah Jessica Parker comes to mind). I honor the people (men and women alike) who understand their singular beauty whether or not the world thinks so. Screw the world. We are completely and utterly beautiful. (Especially when we express our essence instead of hiding!) Frida got that.
Thank you, Frida, (and the Salt Lake Public Library) for the lessons of your life. Despite tremendous personal pain, the joy of (the creative) life is about expressing who you are powerfully, truthfully, personally and making every action of your day an artistic expression.

My sense is that trendsetting, powerful women always tell their truth.
While living in America for four years she was the first worldly woman of her time to wear traditional Mexican clothing while she supported and promoted traditional Mexican art forms towards their eventual economic development. She completely stood out, owned her heritage and expressed her longing for home and her views about what was true for her.The exhibit mentioned that every time Frida dressed it was a ceremony to behold. I couldn’t get over that.
How many of us, when we dress, experience a holy ritual?
My question is: Do we understand how sacred we are? Do we understand how sacred each day is?I’ve had the experience many times of a "sacred" creative expression of pulling together an outfit in a completely original way. 40ish Professional, Do you give a Sh!t about your appearance? + Kick~Ass Classes for Oct & November!
![]()
Tribe of Conscious, Beautiful Geniuses*
Before I get into today's JUICY TOPIC, I have two great classes this October and November if you scroll down. Please check it out and tell your friends. Thank you! Warning: I may ruffle a few feathers on this subject. Just being honest about what I notice and makes me curious! I was talking with a plain looking woman in her 40s the other day at a business conference. She had messy hair that needed a cut (split ends everywhere) and a blackish outfit that was far from impressive. She was attractive but nondescript. I notice tons of women like her in business situations. They know their stuff, seem like pros, but when you look at them all you see is outdated, strangely-paired outfits and a need for self-care, like they've run themselves ragged for their business and that means they're a real business owner. ( I don't know if I intuitively know they're a pro or if I'm picking up on how they feel about themselves — so I don't know if you would think they were a pro going solely from appearance). The main thing I "get" from these 40-something women is that they come across like they don't give a shit because they know they're good at what they doThey look like the last time they gave a shit was in the '80s or '90s and that it would simply be too much trouble to buy a new outfit because that really doesn't matter, right? That's just being too superficial.I don't know if it's just me, being the intuitive person I am, but when I talk to these women I get this vibe that's passive aggressive. It's some form of I DON'T GIVE A SHIT (angry/defensive) + I DON'T CARE + I AM OVER QUALIFIED + I DON'T NEED TO IMPRESS YOU + I'M TOO BUSY/TIRED/BROKE TO CARE. Go away, makeup girl. (mutters to herself...Stylist, schmilist, kiss my ass.) Maybe you wouldn't have the same experience as I do. I seem to only notice it with this particular group of women (fascinating, actually). I also hear this from MEN about women. "She's let herself go — too bad". I think men are very sensitive to this energy. It feels sad. They also comment to me that a woman like this feels defensive. Other women say she feels intimidating. What I wonder is: Are your potential clients/relationships worth dressing up for? Are you sending out the vibe that you don't give a shit? (Pardon me for being so blunt but dang, someone needs to say it! ) It used to be that one would dress to stand in the presence of royalty. Do you honor others & yourself with your appearance?Unfortunately this is also the case of many wives and mothers I run into who have lost the spark in their own aliveness that is causing boredom in their life and relationships. They comment on feeling "matronly". They are so wrapped up in kids, business or advancing degrees that they have lost a sense of respect for their own appearance. They have lost the priority of "me time" and the belief that they are valuable, on their own, without jobs or kids or partnerships. They have given up and underneath it is SADNESS, ANGER and a loss of hope that life will ever be fun again.Whatever those backed up feelings are, whoever is standing in front of you feels it. You can't hide it. I was going to write about what she said next, but I will save that for my next newsletter/blog post! What I would LOVE is for you to comment on this in my blog instead of just emailing me and let's talk about this. (Don't get me wrong, I love your emails, but a conversation on a blog is fascinating!) I really, really want to help these women. If it's you, I want to help you. (You know I give a complimentary consult, right? :) Remember, a few short years ago I felt similar feelings. I felt so old and dowdy. Are you one of these women? What would help you the most? Are you a man, noticing this with women? What do you feel? Do you notice this in business situations? I think sometimes what we judge as "JUDGEMENT" or "criticism" on our part is just a highly refined NOTICING OF ENERGY. We really are wonderful, you know. We really do feel the feelings of others. We do really care. So let's talk about it in a CONSCIOUS CONVERSATION about IMAGE, ALIVENESS and SEX APPEAL. Loving and appreciating all of you! Auretha SuperNatural Stylist Image & Aliveness Guru Best Of the last newsletter: Here's the message. Revamp. Revolt against what no longer works. Let go of your Resistance to change. What doesn't bend, breaks. DeClutter. Update. Transform. Adapt. Adjust. BREATHE. A lot. Stretch your body and your mind. Listen with your Spirit and your Heart. Why are you here on this planet? |
